THEATER DOLLS

I've been rather set on collecting Broadway and soundtracks lately. So, of course, most of them have been inspiring to doll characters from those respective plays (or movies... since some of them have movies made based on the plays XD). So here they are :)

WICKED

Wicked! My absolute favorite musical (as you can tell by all the LJ icons XD). It's a clever prequel to The Wizard of Oz, which follows the story of Glinda, the Witch of the North, and Elphaba, Witch of the West, from college to Elphaba's melting. It also tells you how the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Lion got to be where they were when they met Dorothy XD And the music!! Don't even get me started on the music XD

RENT

This is a musical I've recently started really liking. When I first heard about it I was unsure if I would like it, but I fell in love as soon as I heard the music. This is basically a modern day story based on La Boheme, an opera by Puccini. It's been on Broadway since 1996, and there's a movie coming out in November with the same name and with the majority of the original cast. I recommend it :D

REEFER MADNESS

Ah, Reefer Madness. The newest in my collection of addictive musicals with catchy tunes XD This was originally a propaganda anti-marijuana film made in 1936 that was made so poorly that it became a cult classic. Finally, the story was given music and viola! You have a satirical musical with catchy songs and hilarious characters. Of course the critics aren't too fond of it, but I am XD The movie is ocassionally on Showtime, and the DVD is coming out in October 2005. So, if you haven't seen it I recommend you do.

CHICAGO

Chicago! The best musical around!! I haven't seen the stage musical *tear* but I've heard it's quite good. The movie version has officially taken the place of my favorite movie (non Disney movies, of course.)

LES MISERABLES

My 'Les Miserables' Collection. This is the first Broadway musical I saw. At the moment, my collection is made up of the leading ladies only, plus Marius & Eponine. I'm absolutely in love with my latest addition: Marius hugging Eponine. I was listening to "A Little Fall of Rain" and I just got inspired. That doll is the result :D I'm still not sure if I plan to make all the characters.

Cosette. I don't really like her
character too much, but I love her
gorgeous soprano voice.

Eponine.
She's my favorite of the three.

Fantine. I love her voice
(Broadway version).

PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

Phantom of the Opera! It took me a couple of years to really appreciate the music, but after seeing Gerry Butler in the movie version my mind was set XD One day I'll be inspired to make more Christine dolls. Especially if I can get the DVD so I can study the detail in her costumes XD
